Fittonia Verschaffetti


A Fittonia is native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. Its commonly known as a Nerve Plant or Mosaic Plant because of the distinct veined appearance of its ornamental leaves. Their veins are a different color than the rest of its leaf. They can be either white, pink or silver. The leaves are about 2” long and are attached to fuzzy stems. This plant is small, compact, low-growing and would look good on a windowsill, a small shelf or even in a terrarium.

Keep the soil moist, but not soggy. This plant will collapse if it dries out.

Only feed when it’s actively growing with a basic well-balanced plant food at ¼ the recommended strength.

TIPS

  • This plant requires high humidity, so it is best grown in a terrarium or dish garden. Combine it with small ferns, prayer plant and other foliage plants that need humid conditions.
  • Prefers warm temperatures between 70-80°F and doesn’t do well in temperatures below 60°F.
