Syngonium podophyllum

The Syngonium podophyllum’s are native plants to the tropical rain forests in Central and South America. Arrowhead is its common name because of their unique arrow-like shaped leaves. They are easy, fast growing and do well in low to medium light. It comes in varieties ranging from dark green with strong white variegation to hues of lime and even pink. As the plant matures, it can produce trailing or climbing stems and larger leaves.

These plants are extremely low light tolerant; they will grow faster and maintain their vibrant coloring and markings if grown in medium to bright indirect light. The direct sun will scorch their leaves.

Water this plant thoroughly and then let the top 50% of the soil to dry out. An Arrowhead will droop when it needs water, but will perk up once hydrated.

This plant should be fertilized during the first two weeks in the Spring and Summer with a balanced, liquid fertilizer at ½ the recommended strength. Only feed monthly in the Fall and Winter.

Arrowhead Plants need high humidity, but keep the plant away from hot air vents, air conditioners and fireplaces.
