    Penn State Extension: Woods in Your Backyard Webinar Series – $45


    The Woods in Your Backyard Webinar Series teaches the stewardship of land through a series of one-hour webinars. Join us from the convenience of your computer to learn how landowners, of even just a few acres, can positively influence the environment by implementing simple stewardship practices.

     

    By enhancing or creating natural areas and woodland, landowners can:

    • Create habitat for wildlife
    • Improve water quality
    • Expand recreational opportunities
    • Enhance aesthetics

     

    An online workshop, Woods in Your Backyard is designed specifically (but not exclusively) for landowners with 10 or less acres. If you own land that is wooded, have natural areas, are interested in creating new natural areas, and you would like to create wildlife habitat, improve water quality, and enhance aesthetics, then you should join us for this informative webinar series!

    Backyard Chickens: The Basics – $5


    Maureen of “Philadelphia Backyard Chickens” will teach you how easy it is to raise a backyard flock. Learn everything from choosing the right chicks, setting up a coop, and keeping them happy and healthy year-round. Primex will be selling baby chicks this spring! This is the perfect starter course for your new flock.

     

    Maureen is also an advocate for legalizing backyard chickens in Philadelphia, you can request to join their Facebook group Philadelphia Backyard Chickens here. This group is for everyone living in the Greater Philadelphia area. They are a valuable resource for all things chicken related & the group is always willing to answer your chicken questions!

     

    Primex will be selling baby chicks this spring! This is the perfect starter course for your new flock.

    We invite you join the Penn State Extension Centre County Master Gardeners for Waking Up Your Garden! Our educational program will include topics such as minor bulbs for a major spring splash, caring for your garden tools, and scaling up your native plant gardens from bed to landscape to improve your growing practices for the growing year and explore new options for the future!

     

    Shari Edelson, Director of Operations at the Penn State Arboretum, will lead the webinar with a session on little-known bulbs that make a big impact and gorgeous displays. The next discussion will cover the importance of caring for your garden tools and how to keep them in top condition, taught by Cody Lehman, Vice-President of FFA. Eric Burkhart, Associate Teaching Professor, Ecosystem Science and Management Department / Director of Shavers Creek Environmental Center, will end the webinar with a discussion on beautifying your garden with native plants. Eric will cover native plant sources and propagation, benefits for wildlife, and creating pleasing displays in your home landscaping.
