Penn State Extension: Winter Blues and Gardens of Green – $20

We invite you join the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Butler County for the Winter Blues and Gardens of Green webinar. Following this discussion, Todd Boland, horticulturist at the Memorial University of Newfoundland Botanical Garden and Chair of the Newfoundland Rock Garden Society, will share his extensive knowledge during the Foliage, the Forgotten Friend session. • Penn State Extension: Spirits in the Garden
    6:30 pm-8:00 pm
    February 20, 2021

Penn State Extension: Spirits in the Garden – $15

The Spirits in the Garden webinar brings together Amy Stewart, author of the best-selling The Drunken Botanist: Plants that Create the World’s Great Drinks, and Brie Arthur whose book The Foodscape Revolution laid the groundwork for realizing the full potential of growing fruits and veggies alongside traditional plantings, for a one-of-a-kind gardening cocktail hour.

“Around the world, it seems, there is not a tree or shrub or delicate wildflower that has not been harvested, brewed, and bottled,” (The Drunken Botanist – Amy Stewart).

Amy and Brie will introduce us to some of the plants that make our finest alcoholic beverages and how you can incorporate those same plants into your garden. Do you know how to use sorghum in the garden for a strong visual statement or how to use sorghum syrup in a cocktail? How about the importance of apples in American brewing history or how to incorporate an apple tree into your home landscape? There will even be ideas for those with limited gardening area but lots of bar space. Pop some bubbly and come learn how to grow the plants in your garden that become the ingredients in your glass!
