Based at Martin Luther King High School (MLK) in Northwest Philadelphia, SFL is a Food Justice and entrepreneurship program run through an urban farm developed by Foundations, Inc. in collaboration with the local community partners. Together, the collaboration aims to improve sustained, affordable access to high quality and locally produced food in the community; engage young adults in addressing food insecurity, and link them with job opportunities and career paths in production and marketing. Students participating in the program work together to learn about agriculture, food access issues in their neighborhood, and how to best provide for the nutritional needs of their community.
