Thanks to everyone who supported MANNA this season! Primex along with MANNA volunteers distributed nearly 300 pies over the 2 days. That’s a lot of families fed this Thanksgiving. We hope you can join us for Pie in the Sky 2012.

Oh yuck! I’m sure they do not taste any better than they smell. It seems that you really have to spray often for the Pyrethrum to be effective, thanks for the tip. Pyrethrum is a natural insecticide made from a flower in the chrysanthemum family and deltamethrin is a synthetic version. As with any pesticide be sure to read the label and follow any safety recommendations, just because it’s natural doesn’t mean it is not harmful to people or pets. We carry an organic pyrethrum labeled for use in vegetable gardens and several synthetic versions for home use.

We had them in our home about 2 1/2 years ago and when one found it’s way into my mouth via a cookie it was all out war. I started out using Pyrethrum Aerosol around windows, doors, and A/C units followed by Pyrethrum Concentrate in the attic and on the exterior of the house. Within 2 weeks there were very few stink bugs entering our home. Now, during the Summer and Fall months I spray with Deltamethrin. It’s supposed to last for 90 but I apply to the interior and exterior of the house once a month. So far we have found about 3 dead stink bugs this year.

I would personally like to thank David and Joan for their generous donation to this project. Through their support, my newphew, Thomas, was able to be an important part of the rehabilition of this beautiful building and to achieve his goal of Eagle Scout. It was a honor to work with all the people who made that possible!

I hope you can make it to our next event the Summer Harvest Happy Hour on August 11th @ 5:30pm. The proceeds from the program will go to Philabundance and the Share the Harvest. Chef Tony will be cooking up recipes featuring abundant veggies from the garden while you sip on a glass of wine. And if you still have extra veggies, you can donate them to Share the Harvest every Saturday at Primex between 10am - noon.
